In Our Place, For Our Sin - Isaiah 53:1-53:12

The second week of our series focuses on penal substitutionary atonement. Don’t be scared off by the big words on this, it is intensely practical. It simply means that Jesus died in our place (substitutionary), paying the penalty for our sin (penal), in order to restore us in relationship to God (atonement). This is the core of what Jesus accomplished for us, and it is what we mean when we say that He died “in our place, for our sin.” Through the sermon this week we see the necessity, importance, and implications of this essential aspect of the gospel.
